Dear So You Think You Can Dance producers: get on this, please. Thanks, Ciara.
1) The Joy Formidable – “Whirring”
It’s easy to imagine a group piece to this, with plenty of leaps and lifts during the chorus.
2) Rodrigo y Gabriela – “Hanuman”
In a perfect world, we’d get a tap-Latin combo number for Iveta and Nick to this song.
3) The Duke Spirit – “The Step and the Walk”
I love Sonya Tayeh, but sometimes her freakyness can be … predictable? This song has plenty of dark corners, while edging into new territory.
4) Lil Kee – “Buss It Wide Open”
My sister and I heard this on the radio awhile back and got all silly about it. Dave Scott could do the same.
5) Mumford & Sons – “The Cave”
Look, I’m as sick of this song as the next guy. Doesn’t mean Travis Wall doesn’t deserve a shot at it. (With Melanie and Marko, naturally.)
6) The Avalanches – “Frontier Psychiatrist”
I’m kind of shocked SYTYCD hasn’t tackled this one yet. Maybe it’s because they were waiting for Chris Scott to join the show.
7) Lykke Li – “Get Some”
Weirdest. Jive. Ever.
8 ) Melissa Ferrick – “Drive”
Look, if Jordan’s going to insist on sexydancing at every opportunity, she might as well do it right.
9) Young the Giant – “My Body”
The more of the show I watch, the more I appreciate choreography that doesn’t tell a linear story. This song is the perfect invitation to dance for the love of dance.
10) James Blake – “Limit To Your Love”
Two words: Mia. Michaels. (She could fit one tiny number in this season, right?)
